Ideas for TIME Project

-showing progression/development of artist's style using:
performance art
stop motion-character is trying to get to destination. as person is going to destination, he/she changes into diff phases of his/her style(art) in the progression of its development.

-portray the killing of time
Theory: time can be manipulated based on our emotions & how much we do or don't know,or does it control us and how?
(about how much time is left), (concerns about meeting deadlines vs having nothing to do), (rushing vs taking your time)
tie other brainstorms into this
killing time(making self feel like time is passing faster) by daydreaming

- by breaking down reality
(what is time's connection w/ reality?) Time exists diff in imagination vs reality?
time's connection is control. (everyday use of time time as 3:00, pm, am, is what we established to maintain functioning.) So, time existed before us or started when documentation did.

-Do something with black holes or possible circumstances after being sucked into one?
black holes connection w/ time

-contrast btw youth adult (when younger, time seems to go by slower/ older time seems to go by faster)
portrayed: youth shot w/slower frame rate & older age shot with faster frame rate

  1. I feel that your second idea is the strongest. More people can relate to having a shortage or excess of time on their hands and the metaphor of killing time can be visually presented in any number of different ways.

  2. The first idea is really interesting. Stop motion with the character changing and progressing creates opportunities for some weird/interesting transitions.

  3. i like the idea of "killing time", and i find it to be the most interesting. But i also think it could be pushed a bit further than your description, of course i know that these general terms are merely an outline and it seems like you have given it quite a bit of thought. Maybe consider the activities that we use to kill time, not just daydreaming. playing solitaire, flipping channels, surfing the web, exercise, etc. I like where thie one is going though.

  4. Unless you can find a way to abstractly represent black holes, I would consider that idea out. The idea about killing time and the last idea of the contrast between youth and adult seem the most compelling to me. Every person can relate to childhood and adulthood since we're living through it. However, the killing time idea is much more open to interpretation and can be pursued in a variety of ways. Daydreaming isn't a bad idea but you'll have to carefully consider HOW to portray that.

  5. I like the Killing time best , When I think back on this topic I remember my own examples of how time either slows or becomes faster depending on what I'm doing. It seems with me when I am having to brain storm and cant come up with any ideas that time really flys by but i feel like it inches along. yea defiantly want to see what you come up with this.

  6. I think you could show some really crazy ideas with the "killing of time." I see this image of someone trying to kill time, and then a jump cut to some odd daydream, and then a jump cut back to the person shown surprised by how much time has passed. I think there are a lot of possibilities with speeding the film up and slowing it down.
